Answer:

Prepositions.

Explanation:

Prepositions are parts of speech that tell us the time, location, direction, place, or even relationships in a sentence. They are used to introduce an object and are placed before nouns or pronouns.

Examples of prepositions are "at, in, under, by, to, behind, since" etc. These prepositions can be used to signify the time, location, or space in a sentence.

Examples of these prepositions in a sentence are-

<em>Time- I have been studying </em><em>since </em><em>morning. </em>

<em>Space- My umbrella was </em><em>under </em><em>the bed. </em>

<em>Location- I was taking a class </em><em>in </em><em>the hall.</em>

Answer:

It shows the possible beginning of change in attitudes and social realities concerning the relations between blacks and whites in Maycomb.

Explanation:

In the trial of Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird even though the night before the trial Walter Cunningham had been among those who wanted take justice in their own hands and lynch Tom Robinson, Atticus "had a feeling" that after tangling with Atticus and Scout that night, the Cunninghams left with "considerable respect" for the Finches.  Atticus could have stricken the Cunningham kin from the jury, but, knowing that "once you earned their respect (the Cunninghams) were for you tooth and nail", he decided to take a risk.  Atticus had reasoned that "there's a faint difference between a man who's going to convict and a man who's a little disturbed in his mind".  As it turned out, the Cunningham relative was "the only uncertainty on the whole list", and he did indeed stand up for the truth by holding out in favor of acquittal for Tom Robinson.

the subject of love in the poem "ashes of night", is an example of which poetic device? simile, metaphor, hyperbole or personifi
Dmitry [639]
I think the poem in question is actually "Ashes of Life" by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

If your question pertains to the subject of the poem as a whole, I believe the correct answer to your question is B. metaphor.

Metaphor means that a thing is not to be regarded in its literal sense, but as representative of something else. In this case, there are no ashes in the poem. But they are a metaphor of what's left of her life now that her beloved has abandoned her. We can also take this as an example of imagery, suggesting that she was burning with love, and now only ashes have remained.

However, if you take a closer look at some of the lines, such as "<span>Love has gone and left me", it is a personification - giving human attributes to animals, abstract notions, or non-living things.</span>
