Answer:

Assimilation is a process by which a person, with a cultural background different from that of the majority of the population (for example, immigrants, ethnic or religious minorities, etc.) is gradually incorporated into the majority society through the adoption of cultural manifestations of this. An example of assimilation was the process of cultural assimilation of Native Americans, whereby these individuals gradually adopted the language, beliefs and customs of the whites, abandoning their own cultural identity.

A positive aspect of assimilation is the inclusion of minorities, who become part of the wider society without being discriminated against because of their differences. In turn, a negative aspect of this process is the loss of different unique cultural aspects of minorities (such as indigenous languages, customs, etc.).

You are mistaken, Mr. Darcy, if you suppose that the mode of your declaration affected me in any other way, than as it spared me the concern which I might have felt in refusing you, had you behaved in a more gentleman-like manner.

Which type of phrase is the underlined portion of the sentence?

A. adverbial phrase

B. verb phrase

C. absolute phrase

D. adjectival phrase

Answer:

D. adjectival phrase
