The availability of trade goods, new ways of doing business, the expansion of trade and business would lead to the death of Feudalism in Western Europe in the Middle Ages because these activities gave people such as merchants the opportunity to expand their vision and effort to create a better form generating income to support their families and make a better living.

Under the feudal system, poor people such as peasants and merchants lived in stringent and difficult conditions. But with trade and the expansion of business, they found a better way.

For instance, that is why regions in Italy could grow and flourish. Medieval communes in Italy started to develop into city-states in the 11th century. The first ones to be developed were Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Genova.
