Romeo was fully aware of his families disapproval and the anger they would feel, but still proceeded in marrying her, this was very rebellious of him. Romeo is a very emotional character in the play as he is very emotionally unstable person and his immaturity is shown when his emotions change so quickly.
He tries to keep peace because Tybalt, a Capulet, is now related to him by marriage, but he feels a strong sense of revenge after Tybalt kills Mercutio.
