\large \boxed{ {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  = {(a + b)}^{2}  - 2ab}

The formula is derived from the (a+b)² which can be expanded as:

\large \boxed{ {(a  + b)}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  + 2ab +  {b}^{2} }

Now since we only want a²+b² and not 2ab. We can add -2ab after (a+b)² which result in (a+b)²-2ab. This formula is pretty useful it comes to higher maths.

Answer

  • a²+b² = (a+b)²-2ab

Answer:the equation would be 6x + 10x =  2050

Step-by-step explanation: to set the equation up you would fist order all of the data that is givin and after the data is organized, find out what the x varible and the y varible stand for the take the prices of the advance sales and the price at the door and put it with its varible (6x for advanced salesand 10y for the sales at the door) then add 6x to 10y = 2050 (which is the total amount of dollars made from sales) after you do all the steps you should end up with an equation that looks like this 6x + 10x =  2050

find the area of the isocele triangle formed by the points of intersection of parabolas y=-x^2+9 and y=2x^2-3 and the origin
leonid [27]

Answer:

10\ \text{sq. units}

Step-by-step explanation:

The parabola's are

y=-x^2+9

y=2x^2-3

So

-x^2+9=2x^2-3\\\Rightarrow 12=3x^2\\\Rightarrow \\\Rightarrow x=\sqrt{\dfrac{12}{3}}\\\Rightarrow x=\pm 2

y=-x^2+9=-(2)^2+9\\\Rightarrow y=5

y=-(-2)^2+9=5

So, the points at which the parabola's intersect each other is (2,5) and (-2,5)

The three points of the triangle are (2,5), (-2,5) and (0,0)

Area of a triangle is given by

A=\dfrac{1}{2}[x_1(y_2-y_3) + x_2(y_3-y_1) + x_3(y_1-y_2)]\\\Rightarrow A=\dfrac{1}{2}[2(5-0)+(-2)(0-5)+0(5-5)]\\\Rightarrow A=10\ \text{sq. units}

Area of the triangle formed is 10\ \text{sq. units}.

Which of the following is an example of the additive identity?
bulgar [2K]

Answer:

Option C is correct

a + 0 = a

Step-by-step explanation:

Additive identity:

For any real number x,

x+0 = 0+x = x

We have to find an example of the additive identity from the given options.

Option A.

a+(-a) = 0

Which does not follow the additive identity.

Option B.

a+0 = 0

which does not follow the additive identity.

Option C.

a+0 = a

this equation follows the additive identity.

Therefore,an example of the additive identity is, a + 0 = a

Nicholas is 12 years old and he has collected 459 trading cards. Phillip is 14 years old and he has collected 721 trading cards.
elena-s [515]

Answer: Phillip has 262 more cards than Nicholas

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we are looking for how many more cards Phillip has compared to Nicholas we can subtract Nicholas' amount from Phillip's amount to see how much more he has.

721-459=262
