James K. Polk was the 11th president of the United States of America. He was President from 1845 to 1849, and the period during his time in office was widely referred to as ‘westward expansion.’ In this, President Polk proposed a vision he had that white Americana were destined to expand and conquer all of America. This relates to what O’Sullivan shared because it is in the same category.
Jacques Cartier is that French explorer. Cartier sailed on April 20, 1534, with two ships and 61 men, and arrived 20 days later. He explored the west coast of Newfoundland, discovered Prince Edward Island and sailed through the Gulf of St. Lawrence, past Anticosti Island.
