It's about the dark side of human nature. It's a bit dense, and definitely not suited for unskilled readers, but it's pretty good. The movie "Apocalypse Now" is based on "Heart of Darkness."

For your second question, the narrator's descriptions of his job and newspapers office compare to the adventures of Dravot and Carnehan because of the way they're both told with passion.
Thirdly, peace was brougtht to the people of Kafiristan thanks to these men who fought their battles. The natives needed guidance which for Dravot and Carnehan was extremely convinient considering they wanted to be kings.
In regards to question number 4, the narrator asks many questions and goes through process of reunited with Peachey and getting sidetracked by his scars instead of focusing on him. The passage of time relates back to the plot because the two men built a relationship with the journalist
And lastly, Dravot and Carnehan greatly help people in the region by building up their new tech. This made the people of the region very appreciative of their contribution. Compared to the British empire they helped build an army which was very helpful.
