The collar is 5 cents
The dog is 1.05
Because the dog has to be a dollar more than the collar and you have a dollar and a dime which is 1.10
1.05-.05= 1

In this excerpt we see that he had been “underground” (or away from mainstream society) when he wrote his songs.  Because of his asocial tendency, he was not influenced by society and was able to develop a musical style that was uniquely his own and was original because he would not even have been subconsciously influenced which made his music “pure.”
