Lab reports are written to describe and analyze a laboratory experiment that explores a scientific concept. They are typically assigned to enable you to: Conduct scientific research. Formulate a hypothesis/hypotheses about a particular stimulus, event, and/or behavior. A lab report gives specific information about a test, experiment or research project that was completed in a lab. Generally, lab reports are scientific in nature and include many pieces of information, including the materials used, the methods, the results and a discussion. One very important piece of the lab report is the purpose statement. This statement captures the original purpose of the test, experiment or research. The purpose statement is referenced various times throughout the lab report.

The purpose of a lab report is to organize and communicate what you did in your experiment. A good lab report explains exactly what you have done. It can be used to repeat the experiment or to test other hypotheses in new experiments. Also to familiarize students with experimental apparatus, the scientific method, and methods of data analysis so that they will have some idea of the inductive process by which the ideas were originated. To teach how to make careful experimental observations and how to think about and draw conclusions from such data.

Isabella reads an article in the school newspaper quoting a study that reported a correlation coefficient of +0.85 for the relat
LuckyWell [14K]

Answer:

Strong positive

Explanation:

In studies, we usually establish relationships between two or more variables using correlations. Correlations tell us how this variables are related.

 • Two variables have a positive correlation when if one increases the other increases too.
 • Two variables have a negative correlation when if one increases the other decreases and vice versa.

Also, a correlation can be weak, moderate or strong. Researchers agree that a correlation that is larger than 0.70 should be considered a strong correlation.

In this example Isabella reads about a study saying there's a correlation coefficient of +0.85 between hours spent studying and final exam grade. The fact that the sign of this correlation is "+" tells us that it is positive (the more hours spent studying, the better final exam grade). We can also see that the coefficient is 0.85 which is greater than 0.70 and therefore we can consider this correlation as a strong one.

Thus, Isabella would conclude that this is a strong positive relationship.
