In a population at hardy-weinberg equilibrium with two alleles, a and a, 264 of the 1200 individuals display the recessive trait

If A is dominant allele and a is recessive allel, than aa is recesive homozygous with the frequency q2, AA is dominant homozygous with frequency p2 and Aa is heterozygous with frequency 2pq

If the population is in HW then, p+q=1

264/1200=0.22

q2=0.22, q=0.47 and p=1-0.47=0.53

What causes variations in asexual organisms?
Nezavi [6.7K]
Variations in asexual organisms are rather rare since they occur as a result of mistake of mitosis during DNA copying. On the other hand, variations in sexual organisms are a result of fusion of two different gametes that carry different traits. Thus, the offspring carries characteristics of both parents, resulting in greater genetic variation within the next generation. Consequently, sexual organism obtain greater genetic variation than asexuallt reproducing species.

Compare at least two characteristics of mitochondria to prokaryotic cells and explain how this relates to the endosymbiotic theo
Gekata [30.6K]

The endosymbiotic theory stated that the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells are actually prokaryotic bacteria which were once engulfed by prehistoric eukaryotic cells as a result of evolution.

Therefore to answer this question, here are some characteristics:
1 Both mitochondria and prokaryotic cells contain their own DNA.

2 Neither of the two have true nuclei, but they do have a space in which their DNA is enclosed.
3 Mitochondria and prokaryotic cells have similar transcriptional machinery, which means that they have the same process of making RNA from DNA.

4 Mitochondria contain their own genome, and the formation of their genome in most organisms is circular similar to prokaryotes.

Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:

Arthroplasty

Explanation:

The restoration of function of a joint is called Arthroplasty. The bone functions are restored by maintaining the bones through resurfacing. Some times artificial joints are also used instead of resurfacing the existing bones.

Arthroplasty is a method to cure Osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease where joint cartilages reduces with age.

Also when medical treatments no longer make any impact on the joints of bone pain then Arthroplasty is done.
