Answer:

y = 9  when  x = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

If  y  varies inversely as  x  then XXX x ⋅ y = c  for some constant  c

Given  y = 12  when  x =3  XXX 3 ⋅ 12 =c

XXX ⇒ c = 36

So XXX x ⋅ y = 36   and when

x = 4

XXX 4 *y = 36

XXX ⇒ y = 9

The rectangle shown is translated 6 units to the left. Which ordered pair is NOT a vertex of the image? (A 2, -2) (B -10, 5) (C
S_A_V [24]
Use the figure above as a reference. Identify the vertices of the rectangle before translation, the vertices are (-4,5), (1, 5), (-4,-2), and (1, -2). After translation of 6 units to the left, only the x-coordinates of the vertices are affected. Since the translation is to the left, subtract 6 from the x values of the vertices. Therefore, the vertices after translation are: (-10, 5), (-5, 5); (-10, -2) and (-5, -2).

The ordered pair not in the new set of vertices is (2, -2).

What does x equal in the equivalent problems 4x + 10 and 5x - 13?
elena-s [515]

Answer:

\large \boxed{ x = 23}

Step-by-step explanation:

If the expressions are equivalent ,

\begin{array}{rcll}4x + 10 & = & 5x - 13 & \\4x + 23 &= & 5x & \text{Added 13 to each side}\\23 & = & x & \text{Subtracted 4x from each side}\\x& = & \mathbf{23} &\\\end{array}\\\large \boxed{\mathbf{x = 23}}

Check:

\begin{array}{rcl}4(23) + 10 & = & 5(23) - 13\\92 + 10 & = & 115 - 13\\102 & = & 102\\\end{array}

OK.
