Forshadowing is a literaty device, that is well used in the story Oedipus, because the entire story is around it. The tragedy, the mistery, the impact of the story is about the fact that the future is been said, and awaits for Oedipus.

This literaty device is used by the author to give and advance to the reader of what is coming. This does not ruin expectation it creates more tension.

"I fear a disastrous storm" is a metaphor of what is about to come a terrible future ahead.
