Its a subjective idea, but I don't believe so. The idea of personal freedom is kept from them and they are forced into roles they may not be happy with without ever knowing about what else their life could hold.

Again, its subjective and based on each person

John once was a jester

he was always seen as a heckler

but he then met a girl in a dream

she was covered in orange cream

he found this to be extremely interesting

as she found her attire to be frustrating

he made an offer she couldn't resist

as he said he would solve her problem with a flick of the wrist

they both watched closely as he did his trick

he made her feel quite the fool as the watch on hist wrist began to tick

she was filled with wonder at what mysterious act he would do and that feeling soon began to fester

he began to laugh at this cruel trick as he said "I'll always be a jester".

“the wife’s lament” If the husband were to return, do you think the wife would be welcoming? Explain
Juliette [100K]
Yes, I believe she would be welcoming. Even though the last part of the poem sounds like a curse ("<span>May the young man be sad-minded with hard heart-thoughts"), it is still a statement of the speaker's enduring love for him. She suffers, but imagines that he suffers too, in the exile or wherever he is, and remembers their happy days with sorrow. Her depression has elements of embitteredness, but her love for him is not disputable.</span>
