“A Whole New World” From Disney’s Aladdin

Answer:

Answers with explanation given below.

Explanation:

1. An extended metaphor is basically a single metaphor that is stretched throughout the whole work. Here, the extended metaphor is that Aladdin is opening a new world to Jasmine.

It is a metaphor because he isn’t actually showing her a new world, but her life has changed dramatically and he compares that to being shown a wholly different world. This he does throughout the song, both of them talking about how the world is so different or new now. “No one to tell us, "No", Or where to go” and “With new horizons to pursue” give us a sense of different rules in this new world and a change of scene.

2. “I can open your eyes

Take you wonder by wonder

Over, sideways and under

On a magic carpet ride”

There are two parts to this. There is a tactile (touch/feel) imagery involved when he says to open your eyes, and there is the part about the motion that comes with riding on the magic carpet, which is kinesthetic (motion based).

If you haven’t learned these imagery types in school yet, you could just say these are visual (along with opening your eyes) and (seeing a magic carpet that flies through the sky).

“Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling

Through an endless diamond sky”

This gives the listeners and readers a sense of falling through the sky, which is exactly what the lyrics say. This is further established by the earlier lines talking about the magic carpet that takes you on a ride in the sky.

3. This song is not an example of a monologue. A monologue is a long speech by one actor in a play or movie, and this could’ve been one, except, Aladdin isn’t the only one who contributes to the lyrics. Jasmine puts in a few verses of her own throughout the song.

4. In the line, “I'm like a shooting star, I've come so far”, Jasmine compares herself to a shooting star using simile because she too has come so far so fast across the sky.

5. Alliteration: “Shining, shimmering, splendid”

“It's crystal clear”.

The correct answer is A. She contemplates killing both Pearl and herself to escape their torment.
She is living in a Puritan society which is there to judge her every move - so when she cheats on her presumably dead husband, and gives birth to a girl, obviously her life turns to hell (even though it is mostly self-inflicted). She wants to escape that hell through death, which she would give to both herself and her daughter.

What are some examples of cause and effect in the brave little toaster
Marina86 [1]

Answer:

1. Toaster and the other old appliances set out to town to get Rob because they felt abandoned.

2. The old appliances frighten a Pirate because he captured them.

3. The appliances find a new mistress through a radio advertisement because their old master wanted to sell them.

Explanation:

Cause and effect draws a relationship between two events. It simply tells us the results that arise because of another action or event. "The Brave Little Toaster", tells the story of some appliances who were abandoned by their master because he found a new companion who was allergic to the dust and pollen that were accumulated by the old appliances. Cause and effect examples in this story include;

1. When the appliances felt abandoned by their owner, (cause); they set out to find him in town(effect).

2. When the Pirate captured the appliances and takes the radio with him, (cause); the other appliances frightened him(effect).

3. The appliances made an announcement through the radio for a new buyer or master(effect) because their master abandoned them(cause).
