Answer:

Atticus Finch seems to be the most courageous character in the novel.

Explanation:

Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird" revolves around the story of Maycomb residents in Alabama. Narrated from the standpoint of the youngest character Jean Louis "Scout" Finch, the story takes us through the different ordeals that each character went through, while also dealing with some common issues of the community.

In my opinion, though there are many courageous characters like Jem, Tom Robinson, Boo Radley, Atticus Finch still seems the most courageous person in the story. This is not because he's a lawyer and he's a major character, but because of his ideals and beliefs throughout. Not only did he want his children to learn a touch lesson every time, but he also makes sure that he's not partial. Similarly, his decision to defend a black man against a white man despite the whole community's racist beliefs also shows his desire to do things right. He went above and beyond to ensure the safety of Tom Robinson, the black man accused of raping a white girl, Mayella Ewell.

And when Jem and Scout were attacked by Bob Ewell, Sheriff Heck's insistence that Bob Ewell was responsible for his own death, Atticus refused to back down. He said that he doesn’t want Jem to believe that he can do things wrongs but still be saved from the blame because his father is a lawyer. He insists, "If this thing’s hushed up it’ll be a simple denial to Jem of the way I’ve tried to raise him." This quote clearly shows his belief in doing things right even if it involves putting his own children under the radar. And that is what males him courageous.

I believe that within that time period, men were the ones who earned the money and women were expected to do household duties. lys-0071 [83]

Answer: Another way of saying diction is word choice.

Explanation:

Word choice is the use of rich, colorful and precise language structures, so as to make the author's point more powerful and memorable. It is argued that strong word choice creates images in the minds of the audience. Word choice includes writer's (or speaker's) distinctive vocabulary choices and should be matched to the audience. For instance, if someone writes an academic essay, the word choice should be formal.
