The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred in 1962 between the Soviet Union and the United States when the Soviets supplied nuclear weapons to Cuba to forestall any future invasion and this caused military tension between the two nations.
However, it was eventually de-escalated through diplomatic means and the Cubans were told to use their nuclear weapons when the nuclear war started, which thankfully, didn't.
