Ans: Johnny shocks Dally by telling him he wants to go back home and confess to his crime. Dally tries to change Johnny's mind, telling him he never wants to see Johnny hardened the way prison would harden him. As they drive past the church where Ponyboy and Johnny have been staying, they see that it is on fire.

The answer is the 2nd option! A clause is only PART of a sentence while a phrase IS A SENTENCE. To have a sentence you need both a noun and a verb while a clause will have one of the other. Hope this helps!
