Answer:

If one is given a quadratic equation in the form x2 + bx + c = 0, the sought factorization has the form (x + q)(x + s), and one has to find two numbers q and s that add up to b and whose product is c (this is sometimes called "Vieta's rule" and is related to Vieta's formulas).

Need help with these 2 problems.
Mazyrski [523]
First problem.

Call a and b the sides. Since the sides are doubled they are 2*a and 2*b

You know the area is given by a*b.

2a*2b = 12

4ab = 12

So divide both terms for 4 :)

ab = 3 ft^2

Second problem.

Find the volume of the two solids.

The first contenitor is a parallelepiped.

V = abh

a = 10
b = 5
h = 6

V = 10*5*6 = 300 in^3

The second solid is a cilinder.

V = pi*r^2*h = 3^2*10*pi = 9*10*pi = 90pi in^3 = 90*3,14 = 282,6 in^3

If p:q=2/3:3 and p:r=3/4:2/3 calculate the ratio p:q:r. Giving the answer in its simplest form
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

Given

if p:q=2/3:3 and p:r=3/4:1/2, calculate the ratio p:q:r giving your answer in its simplest form

We need to find the ratio p:q:r

Given p:q = 2/3 : 3 = 2/3 / 3  = 2/9

and p : r = 3/4 : 1/2 = 3/4 / 1/2  = 3/2

Now p/q = 2/9 and p/r = 3/2

We need to make p equal numerators so we get

p/q = 2/9 x 3/3 = 6/27 and

p/r = 2/3 x 3/2 = 6/4

Therefore p : q : r = 6 : 27 : 4
