Answer:

No it cant

Step-by-step explanation:

You have to use the Pythagoras theorem which is a^2 + b^2 = c^2. So 9^2 + 11^2= 202. Then 17 is the hypotenuse so 17^2= 289. They are not equal so they are not.

Find the maximum rate of change of f(x, y) = <img src="https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=x%5E%7B2%7D%20-%20xe%5E%7B2y%7D" id="TexFormula1"
astraxan [27]

The maximum rate of change occurs in the direction of the gradient vector at the given point, with magnitude equal to the norm of the gradient at that point.

f(x,y) = x^2 - xe^{2y} \implies \nabla f(x,y) = \left\langle 2x - e^{2y}, -2xe^{2y}\right\rangle \\\\ \implies \nabla f(2,0) = \left\langle 3, -4 \right\rangle \\\\ \implies \left\|\nabla f(2,0)\right\| = \sqrt{3^2 + (-4)^2} = \boxed{5}

Use the change of base rule to find the logarithm to four decimal places. (2 points) log base nine of 0.877.
stealth61 [152]
Alright, this question is a bit confusing, but hopefully this will help:

Remember that Log(a) B = C is actually a^C = B. (Just imagine "a" as the little number that is first written after "Log.")

So here, I think Log(9) 0.877 = "x." And you want the value "x."

9^x = 0.877, which is all I've got, cause I don't really know what this "change of base rule" is. But I hope I helped.

The denominator of a fraction is 5 more than the numerator. if both the numerator and denominator are increased by 3, the the re
g100num [7]

Let's put it into perspective.

x/(x+5)

If increase by 3:

(x+3)/(x+8) = 3/4

Cross multiply.

4(x+3)=3(x+8)

4x+12 =3x+24

Solve algebraically.

4x-3x = 24-12

x = 12

Therefore, original fraction is:

12/17
