A rectangular pool has dimensions of 40 feet and 60 feet. The pool has a patio area around it that is the same width on all side

s. If the patio area equals the area of the pool, how wide is the distance from the pool edge to the patio edge? If x represents the width of the patio, then what equation could be used to solve the word problem?

Answer:

Let

x-------> the width of the patio

we understand that

region of the pool=40*60-----> 2400 ft²

vicinity of the patio=[(40+2x)*(60+2x)]-2400

place of the patio=2400 ft²

so

[(40+2x)*(60+2x)]-2400=2400

2400+80x+120x+4x²-4800=0

4x²+200x-2400=0------> divide by 4 both sides----> x²+50x-600=0

therefore

the answer is

x²+50x-600=0

<span>0*60=2,400 ft^2 is the area of the pool.
(40+2x)(60+2x)=2*2,400
2400+120x+80x+4x^2=4,800
4x^2+200x+2,400-4,800=0
4x^2+200x-2,400=0
4(x^2+50x-600)=0
</span><span>4(x-10)(x+60)=0
x-10=0
x=10 ans. for the width of the patio.
Proof:
(40+2*10)(60+2*10)=2*2,400
(40+20)(60+20)=4,800
60*80=4,800
4,800=4,800</span>

Answer:

Jesse should buy a new bag in 16 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

He uses 18.75 grams a day.

We can multiply the amount of grams by the amount of days.

18.75 x 16 = 300

He stops using the bag when he uses 300 grams.

So he uses 1 bag for 16 days

1 bag can last for 16 days.

In simplest radical form, what are the solutions to the quadratic equation 0 = –3x2 – 4x + 5?
JulsSmile [24]
- 3 x² - 4 x + 5 = 0
x_{1} = \frac{4+ \sqrt{16+60} }{-6} =  \frac{4+8.718}{-6}
x1 = -2.12
x_{2} = \frac{4-8.718}{-6}

An experiment consists of ranomly drawing three cards in succession without replacement from a standard deck of 52 cards. Let A
nadya68 [22]

Answer:

0.0045248 ;

0.1312218 ;

0.0001809 ;

0.1659729

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of Kings in deck = 4

Total number of cards in deck = 52

Picking without replacement :

A = King on first draw :

P(A) = 4 / 52

A = King on 2nd draw :

P(B) = 3 / 51

A = King on 3rd draw :

P(C) = 2 / 50

1.) P(A n B) = P(A) * P(B)

P(A n B) = 4/52 * 3/51 = 12 / 2652 = 0.0045248

2.) P(A u B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(AnB)

P(AuB) = 4/52 + 3/51 - 0.0045248 = 0.1312218

3.) P(A ∩ B ∩ C) = P(A) * P(B) * P(C)

P(A ∩ B ∩ C) = 4/52 * 3/51 * 2/50 = 0.0001809

4.) P(A U B U C) =

P(A) + P(B) + P(C) - P(AnB) - P(AnC) - P(BnC) - P(AnBnC)

P(AnC) = P(A) * P(C) = 4/52 * 2/50 = 0.0030769

P(BnC) = P(B) * P(C) = 3/51 * 2/50 = 0.0023529

4/52 + 3/51 + 2/50 - 0.0045248 - 0.0030769 - 0.0023529 + 0.0001809 = 0.1659729
