A café sells a regular cup of coffee for $1 and
Over [174]

if x is a regular cip of coffee and y is a large cup of coffee. the first part of the equation being the number of the cups of coffee and the second part expressing the price. using the method of substitution we solve for x in the first equation

x= 5-y

and then we solve for y

then we substitute the value found in the easiest equation which would be the first one and we solve for x

x + 2 = 5

x + 2 - 2 = 5 - 2

x = 3

so its 3 regular cups and 2 large

I need helping finding KMC.
NikAS [45]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

See discussion below. (I think the desired answer is 130)

Discussion:

The problem needs to be clarified to give you a answer. Her'es why:

Argument 1:

       When two lines intersect vertical angles are equal. So angle HMC =

       angle RMK. That's equivalent to

       5M + 15 =  7M +1   =>          subtract 5M from both sides

       5M - 5M + 15 = 7M -5M +1    => subtract 1 from both sides

       0 + 15 -1 = 2M + 1 -1  =>

      14  = 2M =>

      M = 7

      As a straight line has 180 degrees

      angle  RMK +  angle KMC = 180    =>   as angle RMK = 7M + 1

       (7M + 1 )      +  angle KMC  = 180   =>  as M =7 from above

       50               + angle KMC  = 180  =>

       angle KMC = 180 - 50 = 130.

       I think this is the answer they want BUT notice

Argument 2.

       Per the diagram, M can be interpreted as either the point of

       intersection of the 2 lines or as the angle at the intersection of the two

       lines.   If the point of intersection were called, say Q, and M reserved

       for angles, the problem would  be clearer.  BUt as I said above I think

       they are looking for the answer found in Argument 1 (130 degrees)

Thank you,

MrB
