Hammurabi who ruled Babylonia between c. 1792 BC to c. 1750 BC was the sixth emperor of the First Dynasty of Babylonia. He was the one who issued the Codes of Hammurabi and conquered the territories of Elam, Eshnunna, Larsa and Mari. The coup de grace for the dynasty of Hammurabi transpired in the year 1595 BC when Babylon was plundered and captured by the mighty Hittite Empire, whereby terminating all Amorite federal occupancy in Mesopotamia.
