a surveyor standing 64 meters from the base of a building measures the angle to the top of building and finds it to be 39 degree
nexus9112 [7]
The distance of the observer and height of the building form a right angle triangle. Using:
tan∅ = height/base
We calculate the height of the building:
height = 64tan(39)
height = 51.8 meters

The second angle is obtained when the height of both the building and tower are used:
Height(building + tower) = 64tan(48)
51.8 + tower height = 71.1
tower height = 19.3 meters

A commercial apple grower estimates from past records that if 50 trees are planted per acre, then each tree will yield an averag
Karolina [17]

Answer:

i) 60 trees

ii) 3600 apples

Step-by-step explanation:

50 trees per acre

Total pounds produced per acre ( ideally ) = 70 * 50 = 3500 pounds

Assumption :

lets assume the additional tree = X

Therefore the number of trees planted per acre = ( 50 + x ) where x ≤ 30

calculate average yield per tree = ( 70 - x )

Total yield per acre = number of trees * average yield per tree

                                 = ( 50 + x ) * ( 70 - x )

                           Y(x) = 3500 + 20x - x^2

i) Number of trees that should be planted per acre to obtain maximum yield per acre

y'(x) = 20 - 2x = 0 hence X ( number of additional trees ) = 20 / 2 = 10

Number of trees that should be planted per acre = 50 + 10 = 60 trees

ii) Calculate maximum yield

where ; X = 10

number of trees planted per acre = ( 50 + x ) = 50 + 10 = 60

hence maximum yield = ( 50 + x ) * ( 70 - x ) = ( 60 ) * ( 60 ) = 3600 apples

How do you solve

<img src="https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=%20x%5E%7B2%7D%20-8x%3D65" id="TexFormula1" title=" x^{2} -8x=65" al
gulaghasi [49]
                              x² - 8x = 65
                      x² - 8x + 16 = 65
               x² - 8x + 16 - 65 = 65 - 65
        x² - 4x - 4x + 16 - 65 = 0
x(x) - x(4) - 4(x) + 4(4) - 65 = 0
        x(x - 4) - 4(x - 4) - 65 = 0
               (x - 4)(x - 4) - 65 = 0
                       (x - 4)² - 65 = 0

It is actually (x - 4)² - 65.
