As he shook my hand, his coat fell open to expose a bright red satin shirt with a beaded bolo tie under the collar. His get-up w

asn’t out of place on the reservation, but it sure was here, and I wanted to sink right through the pavement.
“Hi,” I muttered with my head down. I tried to pull my hand away when I felt his bony hand trembling, and looked up to see fatigue in his face. I felt like crying. I couldn’t think of anything to say so I picked up Grandpa’s suitcase, took his arm, and guided him up the driveway to our house.

Which detail from the text best supports the claim that Grandpa’s surprise visit creates a conflict for Martin?

Martin looks up and sees fatigue in Grandpa’s face.
Martin puts his head down and tries to pull away his hand.
Martin shakes Grandpa’s hand and says hi.
Martin picks up Grandpa’s suitcase and guides him up the driveway.

A person who uses dogmatic communication illustrates the defensive behavior of certainty. True False
Setler [38]
I would say that a person who is dogmatic does use the defensive behaviour of certainty and that such a person is answering only from the dogma that he/she knows and not being spontaneous and dealing with the topic in a living way in  a way that is open to the world and seeing the other person's point of view that though one may not agree with another point of view one should at least respect it.

Ganezh [65]

Answer:

The excerpt from Enrique’s Journey tells a story about what happened to one victim, and “Children of the Drug Wars” uses words that create an emotional response to persuade readers to take action.

Explanation:

Sonia Nazario's "Enrique's Journey" revolves around the journey that a young boy Enrique undertook to be united with his mother. The perilous journey led him through many unfortunate encounters which shows how people like Enrique had to endure to get safely to America illegally.

Damon Barrett's "Children of the Drug Wars" presents the all too familiar scenario of what children have to endure and encounter in their lives during the war with drugs and how it has an impact on them and their future lives.

While the <u>excerpt from "Enrique's Journey" tells of a single victim, the latter excerpt uses words to create an appealing emotional response to persuade readers to take action.</u> Enrique's encounter with the gangsters terrified him so much that he asked to be deported. On the other hand, the speaker of the latter book asks for children of drug wars to be allowed to be taken as refugees so that they need not <em>"make the perilous journey north alone"</em>.

What is a short summary of "Beowulf"?
diamong [38]
<span>Beowulf’s first major battle was against Grendel, a monster that had been terrorizing the Scyldings. Beowulf heard about Grendel’s murderous spree in the land of the Danes under King Hrothgar and decided to come to their aid. Beowulf fights Grendel in a mead hall at Herot and tears off the monster’s arm, mortally wounding it. Grendel’s mother attacks the Danes in revenge but Beowulf follows the monster back to her lair and kills it. Beowulf goes back home to the Geats and becomes their King. Fifty years after his last battle with Grendel’s mother, Beowulf is forced to fight a dragon after a slave steals a golden cup from its lair. This last battle is however difficult for Beowulf who receives help from one of his men and the two finally defeat the dragon. During the battle with the dragon Beowulf was mortally wounded. The hero dies soon after and is buried ceremoniously at sea</span>
