C is the best answer I see because the war was started when conflict arose between the English and French because king Edward lll (English) escalated a dispute over feudal rights in Gascony because he believed that the French crown belonged to him after King Charles lV of France died and left no heir to the French throne. I believe this is correct but I might also check other sources just in case :)
