Due to the force of the tectonic plates that occurred about the 4.5 billion years, the geology of the North American plate reveals the upwelling a the collision of the plants and thus the western U.S has a rough texture as compared to the smooth central and eastern regions.
<u>That has created the 12 main geologic provinces like the Columbia Plateau, the Basin and Range, Colorado Plateau, the Rocky Mountains, and the Laurentian Upland, Interior Plains, and the Interior Highlands. The colorado plateau lies in the upper northern and the central side and the basin and the provinces cover much of the boundaries of the places along the pacific.</u>
