Answer:

First European perceptions of Native Americans seen them as uncivilized savages that, together with effort and time, might be educated and assimilated into European civilization. Christopher Columbus reported his view of these Indians at the following fashion:

They need to be good servants and of rapid intelligence, because I find that they really soon say all that’s stated to them and that I feel that they’d easily be made Christians, for it seems to me that they’d no creed. Our Lord prepared,in the right time of my death, I’ll bring back half of these for your Highness, that they might learn how to speak.

This passage indicates that Columbus thought the Indians smart and could be readily converted to European manners, but didn’t believe them equivalent to Europeans. Columbus shows his ethnocentric by dismissing Native American spiritual beliefs and culture, and by imagining that since they didn’t speak a European language they couldn’t”talk”

ond, in your own view, what role (if any) does Black Nationalism havetoday? Is this a relevant philosophy for social change in t
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

Even though black nationalism helped the abolition of race segregation, its role in modernity is only commemorative. It is also irrelevant and would propitiate racial segregation because it only looks to empower one minority and separate it from the rest. Because it does what it looked like to prevent and disappear, segregation.

Explanation:

First of all, nowadays the role of black Nationalism is only commemorative and even though it provided society a great benefit, it is outdated to modern society because inclusion, multiversity, and equality are promoted and sought effectively. It is irrelevant to our philosophical and social state because by only working towards the benefit of a certain minority it performs what it sought to eliminate. The segregation of minorities, today we live in a very integrated and cooperative society that has overcome movements to empower minorities. We don't have a perfect society but all of the social groups are equally valued and protected by law. Therefore, it is an outdated ideology.
