What were the leading causes of the peloponnesian war ?
oksano4ka [1.4K]
<span><span>The reasons for this war are sometimes traced back as far as the democratic reforms of Cleisthenes, which Sparta always opposed. However, the more immediate reason for the war was Athenian control of the Delian League, the vast naval alliance that allowed it to dominate the Mediterranean Sea.By 454 BC, when the League's treasury was transferred to Athens, the alliance had become an empire in all but name. Over the next two decades it began treating its fellow members as ruled subjects rather than partners, and fought several short wars to force members who wanted to leave the League to rejoin it.In 433 BC, when Athens signed a treaty of mutual protection with Corcyra (modern-day Corfu) - one of the few other city-states with a major navy of its own - Sparta and its allies interpreted the move as an act of provocation. A year later Sparta cancelled its peace treaty with Athens. Then in 431 BC a contingent of soldiers from Thebes, Sparta's ally, tried to seize control of a town called Potidea. Caught and imprisoned, the townspeople put all 200 members of the advanced party to death. When a messenger from Athens arrived the next day to persuade the town against such a rash act, it was too late. The war had begun.

What might happen if an economic is unable to produce wanted goods and services?
bekas [8.4K]

personally, I believe people will go without them, but it is also very possible people will look elsewhere for them, but its all a matter of perspective. I think that if the economy cannot produce the goods and services, no where else is able to either, thus, you'd go without it, and it isnt to say you wont want it. You will, maybe even more so. And I doubt people will focus on needs more than they already are, unless it gets worse for the consumer itself in that regard. I cant say im right though.

Which statement best explains how Ralph Waldo Emerson, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Ned Buntline were similar?
aniked [119]

Answer:

They all shaped the literary culture in the United States. Ned Buntline was a sensationalist writer who wrote many stories which moved people to extreme passionate acts such as rioting. Harriet Beecher Stowe helped people's view progress on slavery as she wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin, as it depicted the harsh life of African-American slaves. Ralph Waldo Emerson was the leader of the Transcendentalist movement (a protest against the general state of spirituality) and was a big supporter of individualism, as well as writing stories about the pressure of society.
