In this unit, you’ve looked at opposing viewpoints on issues that drove one of the most controversial eras in US history—the tim

e before, during, and after the Civil War. As you know, some of the same issues still exist in twenty-first century American culture and politics. For example, race relations, civil rights, labor rights, and state versus federal control are still targets of movements for social change. And each issue meets up with resistance from opposing forces.
Choose a source of conflict that you are aware of in American culture now and describe it in this discussion forum. Would you consider it primarily an interpersonal conflict, a political conflict, or a social conflict? Does it have roots in the era of the Civil War, or is it a modern issue? Why do you think people are so passionate about the issue? What possibilities do you see for resolving the conflict, and how long might that take?

The correct answer is "The baby seemed content listening to the soothing music". Because in the given example and the correct answer, "content" is used as an adjective, meaning happy, whereas in the remaining examples it is used as a noun content, meaning capacity.

How to kill a mocking biird chapters 1-10 Short Response Questions -
Komok [63]

Answer:

Maycomb doesn't quite get Mr. Raymond. He's always drinking from a paper bag; he sits with the African-Americans; and Jem tells Scout and Dill that he's had several children with an African-American woman—even though he's from an old, rich family. (On the other hand, maybe being from an old, rich family allows him to live how he likes without worrying about what other people think.)

Later, Scout and Dill find out that Mr. Raymond does care about what other people think, but not in the way they expected. His paper bag turns out to be hiding not whisky but Coke, and his constant drunkenness is a put-on. There's a reason: "When I come to town, […] if I weave a little and drink out of this sack, folks can say Dolphus Raymond's in the clutches of whiskey—that's why he won't change his ways. He can't help himself, that's why he lives the way he does" (20.15).

Like Calpurnia speaking one language at home with the Finches and another at the African-American church, Mr. Raymond's double life shows Scout the compromises people have to make in order to live in communities where they don't quite fit in.

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE
Lapatulllka [165]

Answer:

Society sometimes makes a person feel less important when they are overweight or obese.  When that happens, individuals have to fight back because beauty is on the inside.

Society sometimes makes a person feel less important when they are a different color than someone else.  When that happens, individuals have to fight back because everyone is valuable.

Society sometimes makes a person feel less important when they are poor.  When that happens, individuals have to fight back because we all do our very best in these trying times.

I really hope that your question did not actually say that people should have to "fight back" because....

There is already too much violence in this world, so if this is a question from one of your teachers, remind them that we really need some peace right now.
