In this unit, you’ve looked at opposing viewpoints on issues that drove one of the most controversial eras in US history—the tim

e before, during, and after the Civil War. As you know, some of the same issues still exist in twenty-first century American culture and politics. For example, race relations, civil rights, labor rights, and state versus federal control are still targets of movements for social change. And each issue meets up with resistance from opposing forces.
Choose a source of conflict that you are aware of in American culture now and describe it in this discussion forum. Would you consider it primarily an interpersonal conflict, a political conflict, or a social conflict? Does it have roots in the era of the Civil War, or is it a modern issue? Why do you think people are so passionate about the issue? What possibilities do you see for resolving the conflict, and how long might that take?

arlik [135]

Answer:

The chosen work of art is the painting "Sowing" by the artist William Johnson.

Explanation:

"Sowing" is a hostoric painting, created by the artist William johnson that shows the lives of black farmers and the challenges of this profession.

The artist uses irregular lines and angular figures with different angles and proportions together with a combination of strong colors, which show a simple but unpredictable life, full of challenges, tensions and insecurities. However, the painter softens all these things with a simplistic design, but strong and flashy.

Which two sentences in this excerpt from The Time Machine by H.G. Wells suggest that the Morlocks possess a degree of intelligen
Digiron [165]
You did not provide the excerpt but I wound it and the correct answers are the following two sentences:

1.For once, at least, I grasped the mental operations of the Morlocks.
Here we see that they do possess a kind of intelligence, maybe at first strange and unclear but it is there, no matter how strange it might seem.

2.I was surprised to find it had been carefully oiled and cleaned.
Here the Time Traveler has found his Time Machine and he finds that the Morlocks had tried to grasp its function and its purpose. They have taken it apart and then cleaned and oiled it, which suggests they know somethings about how the machine work.
