The Treaty of Versailles, signed in June 1919 at the Palace of Versailles in Paris at the end of World War I, codified peace terms between the victorious Allies and Germany. The Treaty of Versailles held Germany responsible for starting the war and imposed harsh penalties in terms of loss of territory, massive reparations payments and demilitarization. Far from the “peace without victory” that U.S. President Woodrow Wilson had outlined in his famous Fourteen Points in early 1918, the Treaty of Versailles humiliated Germany while failing to resolve the underlying issues that had led to war in the first place. Economic distress and resentment of the treaty within Germany helped fuel the ultra-nationalist sentiment that led to the rise of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party, as well as the coming of a World War II just two decades later. In a speech to Congress in January 1918, Wilson laid out his idealistic vision for the post-war world. In addition to specific territorial settlements based on an Entente victory, Wilson’s so-called Fourteen Points emphasized the need for national self-determination for Europe’s different ethnic populations. Wilson also proposed the founding of a “general association of nations” that would mediate international disputes and foster cooperation between different nations in the hopes of preventing war on such a large scale in the future. This organization eventually became known as the League of Nations.

What can you conclude from the fact that Bartolomeau Dias's route hugged the coast of Africa
Katyanochek1 [597]

Answer:

It can be concluded that Bartolomeau concluded his voyage after rounding the southern tip of Africa and discovering the Cape of Good Hope and Vasco Da Gama voyaged ahead of the Cape of Good Hope to reach India.

Explanation:

It was important about the voyages of the two explorers that one discovered the possible route to reach Asia from Europe and the other sailed through the route to actually reach Asia.

The voyages of Bartolomeau Dias and Vasco Da Gama are complementary to each other as they both partially contributed in establishing a marine route from Europe to Asia.

7. If a monopolist increases the selling price of a good from $20 to $30, then what is the marginal revenue?
ANEK [815]

Answer:

$10.

Explanation:

The key word here is a "monopolist", or an individual/company that has complete control over a certain amount of market. Marginal revenue, as defined, is an increase in revenue that results from the sale of one additional unit of output.

This is important to note, in that usually when a price is raised, as long as there is comparable quality with competitors who have lower prices, an increase of price will typically lower demand for the product(s) from that individual supplier. However, in holding a monopoly, no matter how much or little they change the prices, as the product is in demand, the market demand would not change as much assuming all things stay the same (i.e., natural demand is still the same amount as before the price change).

So, for example, that there is a natural demand for computer chips. You as well as your company, is the only company that makes computer chips, or at least you make the majority of the computer chips (>90%). This typically means that, if no other company or government has the means to be able to achieve adequate production of computer chips, and as computer chips are important in everyday products and a part of human life now, then an increase of price by $10 is justifiable under the Nature of Demand. The marginal revenue then, would be $10 (the amount increased).
