He would have $750 at the end of three weeks
  500 + 200 = 700        700  x  2 + 1400
1400 - 650 = 750
$750 at the end of three weeks

Hi,

8 Pckts  each has 500 g weight .Total weight would be 8*500=4000g
and she arranged them into 3 boxes.

assume those three boxes are X,Y,Z first,second,thrid respectively.
X+Y+Z=4000g--------------------1

then according to the statement first box is twice heavy as second one
means X=2Y----------------2

and thrid box is 60g heavier than second box.
Z=Y+60--------------------3
put those values in to eq 1

2Y+Y+Z=4000
3Y+Y+60=4000
4Y=4000-60
4Y=3940
Y=985
second box weight is 985 gram

Method 1

\begin{array}{ccc}60&-&15\%\\x&-&100\%\end{array}\ \ \ \ |cross\ multiply\\\\15x=60\cdot100\\15x=6000\ \ \ \ \ |divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 15\\\boxed{x=400}

Method 2

\begin{array}{cccc}15\%&-&60&|divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 3\\\\5\%&-&20&|multiply\ both\ sides\ by\ 20\\\\100\%&-&400\end{array}

Method 3

p\%=\dfrac{p}{100}\\\\15\%=\dfrac{15}{100}=0.15\\\\0.15x=60\ \ \ \ |divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 0.15\\x=400

Does anyone know the answer?
Helen [10]
The answer would be 60, if you add 13,15, and 12 up you get 40. Those numbers would be considered 2/3 of all the marbles. Divide 40 by 2 to get how many marbles is 1/3. You would get 20 being a third if the marbles. Add that to the original 40 and you’ll get a total of 60.
