1) Materialism is a form of philosophical monism that holds that matter is the fundamental substance in nature, and that all things, including mental states and consciousness, are results of material interactions. Materialism is closely related to the physicalism-the view that all that exists is ultimately physical.

2) Excessively concerned with physical comforts or the acquisition of wealth and material possessions, rather than with spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values. adhering to the philosophy of materialism, a theory that regards matter as constituting the universe and all its phenomena.

The definition of materialistic is a person who is focused on objects, ownership and wealth. Being overly concerned with material possessions and wealth.
