Which character could i compare Barack Obama to? In terms of the play "the crucible"
AVprozaik [17]

I hate to say this, but I think I would have to go with Thomas Putnam. This character used his power and influence to do bad so to speak. If you remember he used his status to accuse people of witchcraft and then would buy those people's land once they were executed. Depending on where one might stand politically some would see Obama as using his power for bad.

Hopefully this helps

choose and sketch a symbol that represents Ponyboy, SodaPop, Darry, Johnny, Cherry, Two-Bit, Dallas (Dally) and Randy
emmainna [20.7K]

Ponyboy - book

He is the thinker and dreamer of the group. A book would be the perfect symbol for him as he values his education and loves to read. He chose to write a book for his English theme.

Sodapop - rope for tug of war

Soda says he constantly feels as though he is being pulled in two different directions when Darry and Ponyboy fight. He does not like to be the man in the middle.

Darry - Atlas holding the rock

This would be a good symbol for Darry as he feels that he is responsible for anything that happens to the family and in part also anything that happens with the rest of the Greasers. He gave up what could've been a college education when his parents died to stay home and keep the family together. This responsibility weighs on him just like Atlas's rock.

Johnny - puppy

Johnny is a scared puppy. Ponyboy calls him the "pet" of the gang. They are always looking out for him. He is not wanted at home and is frequently abused when he is home.

Cherry - two different colored cherries, black and white

This would be a good symbol for cherry, because her name is Cherry. They should be different colors: black and white. On the one hand she is a Soc and seen as pure and good by society. However, she also supports the Greasers by spying for them and testifying on behalf of Ponyboy.

Two-Bit - Mickey Mouse or Chocolate Cake

Two-Bit is still a child. Even though he's an older member of the group, he is resistant to growing up. He would choose to eat dessert for every meal and loves watching Mickey Mouse cartoons. One of these symbols would be best because it represents his childlike behaviors.

Dallas - fist

Dally is always looking for a fight. He is constantly antagonizing people. Cherry sees through his bravado and sees that he is just sad and lonely. However, his constant aggression gets him into all kinds of trouble.

Randy - football letter jacket

This represents Randy's jock and Soc status. It shows his socio-economic standing as well as the possibility for him to attend college as a jock. At the end of the novel, he tries to shed this label.

40 POINTS IF ANSWERED
Luden [163]
It’s almost impossible to go through life without feeling judged. Think about a moment when you felt belittled or judged by someone around you; a moment when you felt like someone was making unfair assumptions about you.

For instance, when I was a kid, I was extremely quiet. People assumed that I was strange and even at times rude because I didn’t actively participate in conversations. These are judgements.

Once you choose which instance to recount, form your answer by following the prompt.

• Write in first period POV (EX: I walked to the store).

• Include engaging dialogue (what did people say about you or to you? Did you talk about it with someone? Include this as dialogue).

• Reflection (talk about how these judgements made you feel and how the experience affected you as a whole. EX: I felt angered and didn’t understand why all the eyes turned on me).

• Vivid descriptions (describe how the people looked and what the setting looked like. EX: The hanging clock in the classroom ticked in unison with my quickening heart beat).
