The reasons behind my answer are that Peet has been under psychological experimentation to kill Katnees, he has shown it so far in the story and the compromises the squads' mission because the squad doesn't really know he stimulus that is going to drive Peeta behavior. Therefore, he is more of a danger than a resource for the squad.
