Answer:

The participial phrase in the sentence is "practicing the clarinet" and the word modified is "Melissa".

Explanation:

A participial phrase is a phrase that begins with a past participle or present participle which is followed by an object and, in some cases, modifiers. Moreover, a participial phrase always acts as an adjective. In the sentence "I heard Melissa practicing the clarinet", "practicing the clarinet" is a participial phrase because it is made up of a present participle ("practicing") and an object ("the clarinet"). Furthermore, this participial phrase is modifying "Melissa", which is the direct object in the sentence. In other words, "practicing the clarinet" is describing and providing additional information about "Melissa".

Which passage from the text most clearly explains why Wordsworth chose to depict rural life in his poems?
hram777 [196]

Hello. You forgot to enter the answer options. The options are:

A) “the manners of rural life germinate from those elementary feelings; and, from the necessary character of rural occupations."

B) “to relate or describe them throughout, as far as was possible, in a selection of language really used by men”

C) “because in that conditions the passions of men are incorporated with the beautiful and permanent forms of nature”

D) “because in that condition of life our elementary feelings co-exist in a state of greater simplicity, and, consequently, may be more accurately contemplated”

Answer:

D) “because in that condition of life our elementary feelings co-exist in a state of greater simplicity, and, consequently, may be more accurately contemplated”

Explanation:

Rural life was a great inspiration for Wordsworth's work. He always addressed how hard work, contact with nature and the simple life of the countryman had a positive impact on people's lives, personality and even feelings. He believed that this type of environment has a simplicity that makes emotions and feelings simpler and therefore more understandable and easier to be contemplated.

Develop a 8 sentence paragraph that includes a claim and evidence supporting the claim.
quester [9]

This is like a story plus a claim following your requests. Hope it helps you, though.

We call the meeting to order -- > 11:42 AM

This is the case-claim of the missing french fries. It happened last Sunday, when I made a claim that I witnessed frozen french fries being stolen by a group of people at a store. The store retrieved the fries on Wednesday today. Thankfully, they were not damaged. Still in good condition, still edible. "What evidence is there"? Good question, I saw it at the store and recorded it. I presented the recording, and all is well that ends well!

This claim is not based on an actual case. This is fictional, and any relation to an actual person is purely coincedential.

Select all that apply.
Nookie1986 [14]
Perhaps all the above - there will be people who don't necessarily have great morals and temperament, but they will attempt to portray themselves in a brighter light, accomplish their purpose whilst capturing the reader's attention all at the same time. B, however, I'm not too sure with that, so it's your choice if you choose to circle A, B, C and D rather than A, C and D.
