The decimal number 11.8 can be read as "eleven and eight tens."<br><br><br> True or False
Semmy [17]
I mean it could be read that way but that's the way most people read fractions. 11 and 8/10. Most people I know read decimals like that as 11 point 8. So yes I suppose it's true; it's not wrong, but most people don't say it like that. And I don't know how they taught you to read it in your math course.

The horizontal line segment at the top of the polygon on the grid below is how many units long?
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

6 units long.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A polygon drawn on a graph.

In order to determine the distance of the horizontal line at the top, we find the coordinates of the end points and then use distance formula to find the exact distance.

Let us label the polygon as ABCD as shown below. AB is the length of the horizontal line.

Coordinates of A are (x_1,y_1)=(-3, 4) as seen in the graph.

Coordinates of B are (x_2,y_2)=( 3, 4) as seen in the graph.

Now, distance formula  for two points (x_1,y_1)\ and\ (x_2,y_2) is:

d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}\\d_{AB}=\sqrt{(3-(-3))^2+(4-4)^2}\\d_{AB}=\sqrt{(3+3)^2+0}\\d_{AB}=\sqrt{36}=6\ units

Therefore, the horizontal line at the top is 6 units long.

Angel jogged around the park in 1 1/4 hr chris jogged same distance in 5/6 hrs how much longer did angel take then chris in hr??
QveST [7]
You will have to get the difference and get a common denominator but first combine the mixed number:
1 \:  \frac{1}{4}  -   \frac{5}{6}   =  \frac{5}{4}   -   \frac{5}{6} =  \frac{15}{12}   -   \frac{10}{12}
Then subtract the numbers
\frac{15}{12}  -  \frac{10}{12}  =  \frac{5}{12}
Angel took 5/12 hours longer than Chris

oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

0.1575

Step-by-step explanation:

Probability of picking a girl is 0.45 and probability of a girl scoring A is 0.35.

Therefore probability of a girl scoring A is 0.45*0.35=0.1575
