A. Many Germans resented the harsh conditions imposed in Germany after World War I.

Hitler had countlessly violated the Treaty of Versailles by expanding the Wehrmacht (Army), creating the Kriegsmarine (Navy) and Luftwaffe (Air-force). He also defied the treaty by remilitarizing the Rhineland and the Anschluss of Austria. These actions were very aggressive but the German people supported it.
