Can someone please help me this is due at 11:59pm tonight!
omeli [17]

Explanation:

A variety of factors led to the Collapse of the Reconstruction period. Factors such as the Supreme Court rulings. These involved extremely short sighted - and limited rulings involving the civil liberties of African-Americans.

Another defining factor was the weakening and eventual end of the Freedman's Bureau. The FB had worked as a support for the recently freed slaves.

The shift from the radical Republican representation in Congress to the Liberal/Republican party led to the collapse as well given their party was not as interested in showing support to the slaves who had been recently freed.

All in all, there are 4 primary factors that can be designated to have affected the Reconstruction causing it to fail.

1) Violence from Confederate loyalists. This placed African-Americans and supporters in danger.

2) Thousands of white plantation owners suffered from extreme poverty. War expenses & deconstruction, debates against contracts of labor and the increasing dependence on credit all led to the eventual demiste of the Reconstruction era.

3) Non-effective Law Enforcement practices. It was a period of violence given the lack of effectiveness in the LE field to control the racial violence and the revolts from the people.

4) Decline in national interest. The nation was ready to leave behind the uncertainty and questions that plagued their everyday lives involving the Civil War. They sought to return to a normal life - to normalcy. This affected the support they could have given to all of the Reconstruction efforts.

What did President Nixon's visit to China show?
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

President Nixon's visit to China shows that B) Mao Zedong was agreeable to having US troops stay in Taiwan.

Explanation:

The main objective of President Nixon's visit to China was to create better relations between the US and China. Since China is a communist country and the US was completely anti-communist, there were no past relations between the US and China. Establishing good relations with China had many benefits for the US.

Secretary Kissinger played an important role in plotting this unexpected visit to China. He thought that good political and trade relations with China would be a plus point for them against North Vietnam. He also thought that Mao Zedong was agreeable to having US troops stay in Taiwan.

Hence, option B is correct.
