If the gene for purple flowers is dominant and two white flowered plants produce 6 offspring, then the answer must be 6. Every life form with genes has a dominant and recessive gene. For example, on a child’s fathers side there is a history of large ears. On the child’s mothers side there is a history of small ears. The father’s large ear size is dominant, so the child will have large ears. If two white flowers are white instead of purple that must mean that the dominant purple gene was not in their flower history. Therefore, their offspring will have no chance of developing a purple colour.
