How did the colonist react to the Townshend Acts? They set up a boycott to not buy the goods. They found other things in place of the goods but were not as good. They sewed dresses out of homespun cloth and brewed tea from pine needles.
I believe it was the division of Byzantium and the Latin West. Byzantium was the emperor of Constantinople the area around Greece and Turkey and North into Russia. Latin West was under the control of different people until dominance of the Franks in the region. Another powerful and well noted authority was the Pope. The congress are voted for by the people. If someone wants to run for Congress, they run against other people. The people choose who they want, and vote for them when the time comes.
