Answer:

1. 400 2. 220 3. 300

Step-by-step explanation:

1. 701 to the nearest ten is 700 and 299 is 300 then subtract.

2. 268 rounds to 270 and 53 to 50.

3. 51 rounds to 50 and 250 stays the same.

The way you do this is by looking at the tens place and see is the number is 1,2,3,4 round down 1 number but if the number in the tens place is

5,6,7,8, or 9 you round up

Find the 9th term of the geometric sequence 5, -25, 125, ...
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:  1,953,125

This is one single value and it is just a bit under 2 million.

Or more accurately, it's a bit over 1.9 million.

===========================================================

Explanation:

  • a = 5 = first term
  • r = -5 = common ratio

Note that dividing any term by its previous term gets us the common ratio

  • r = term2/term1 = -25/5 = -5
  • r = term3/term2 = 125/(-5) = -5

The r value must stay the same the entire time, or else the sequence isn't geometric.

The nth term of any geometric sequence is a*(r)^(n-1). With the 'a' and 'r' values we found, we update that to 5(-5)^(n-1)

-----------------

To verify that is the correct nth term expression, plug in various values of n to compare it with the given sequence.

If we tried n = 2 for instance, then we find the 2nd term is

5(-5)^(n-1) = 5(-5)^(2-1) = -25

which matches what your teacher gave you. I'll let you verify the other terms.

-----------------

The last thing we need to do is plug in n = 9 and simplify

5(-5)^(n-1)

5(-5)^(9-1)

5(-5)^8

5(390625)

1,953,125  this is one single value (rather than 3 separate values)

You can do one-half of a job in you can do one half of a job in a an hour. Your friend can do one-third of the same job in an ho
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

  • 1.2 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the amount of the job is x.

You can do 1/2x in an hour.

Your friend can do 1/3x in an hour.

<u>Together you can do:</u>

  • 1/2x + 1/3x = 5/6x of a job in an hour

<u>You need time to finish the job:</u>

  • x ÷ 5/6x = 6/5 = 1.2 hours

Based on the given segment lengths, determine whether the segments can form a triangle.
murzikaleks [220]

For 3 sides to form a triangle two sides added together need to be greater then the 3rd side. You need to check all 3 combinations:

1. 11.5 + 10.5 = 22, 22> 6.1

11.5 + 6.1 = 17.6 17.6 > 10.5

10.5 + 6.1 = 16.6, 16.6 > 11.5

This one can make a triangle.

2. 9.5 + 3.5 > 4.5

9.5 + 4.5 > 3.5

4.5 + 3.5 < 9.5

Cannot make a triangle.

3. 8 + 6.7 > 1

6.7 + 1 < 8

Cannot make a triangle.

4. Can make a triangle

5. Can

6. Can
