No, they don't have to have a definitive ending

You can end a story however you want, but you do want to be think about how people may react to a cliffhanger with no plans of continuing. Many stories have ending with cliffhangers or that don't answer everything.

Answer: I would say it needs to end in a solid ending so the reader gets what happened in the narrative
