open depth of field is something that is controlled by the aperture settings on a camera, like our eyes a camera lens also has an iris that opens and closes inside of it to get more or less light for a photo l

shallow depth of field is the small and narrow area in a part of an image that is in focus at the moment..most of the time the background is blurred and only the subject is in focus
