Jo cut a key lime pie into 8 equal sized slices the next day 7/8 of the pie is left Joe puts each slice on its own plate how many plates does she need

Jo needs 7 plates because 7/8 pieces are left. (can i get a slice?)

8 - 1 = 7 

So SOMEBODY ate a slice and she now has 7 left.
