Casey boards a Ferris wheel at the 3-o'clock position and rides the Ferris wheel for multiple revolutions. The Ferris wheel rota

tes at a constant angular speed of 5.6 radians per minute and has a radius of 50 feet. The center of the Ferris wheel is 55 feet above the ground. Let t represent the number of minutes since the Ferris wheel started rotating.
a. Write an expression (in terms of t) to represent the varying number of radians θ Ryan has swept out since the ride started.
b. Write an expression (in terms of t) to represent Ryan's height (in feet) above the ground.

Solution :

It is given that :

Casey boarded a Ferry wheel at position of 3 'o' clock.

The angular speed of the Ferry wheel = 5.6 radians per minute

The radius of the Ferry wheel = 50 feet

The height of the center wheel of the Ferry from the ground = 55 feet

Let the number of minutes be = t

a). The expression of the varying number of radians θ is given by :

After t minutes,  θ = angle swept

                           θ = 5.6 t radians

b). Finding the height from the center of the wheel.

We know that : y = r sin θ

Given r = 50 feet

So, y = 50 sin (5.6 t) feet

Therefore, the height above the ground can be found by :

h = y + 55 (from ground)

h = 50 sin (5.6 t) + 55   feet

a recent survey found that 40% of high school students exercise regularly. If you choose 5 students at random, what is the proba
enyata [817]

Answer:

0.05

Step-by-step explanation:

We can correctly state that the total sample space= 100 students

40% of 100 students exercise regularly

The probability that 5 students

Picked at random exercise regularly is

Pr(5) = 5/100= 1/20

Pr(5)= 0.05

To estimate the mean height μ of male students on your campus,you will measure an SRS of students. You know from government data
nexus9112 [7]

Answer:

a) \sigma = 0.167

b) We need a sample of at least 282 young men.

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed samples can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

This Zscore is how many standard deviations the value of the measure X is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

(a) What standard deviation must x have so that 99.7% of allsamples give an x within one-half inch of μ?

To solve this problem, we use the 68-95-99.7 rule. This rule states that:

68% of the measures are within 1 standard deviation of the mean.

95% of the measures are within 2 standard deviations of the mean.

99.7% of the measures are within 3 standard deviations of the mean.

In this problem, we want 99.7% of all samples give X within one-half inch of \mu. So X - \mu = 0.5 must have Z = 3 and X - \mu = -0.5 must have Z = -3.

So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

3 = \frac{0.5}{\sigma}

3\sigma = 0.5

\sigma = \frac{0.5}{3}

\sigma = 0.167

(b) How large an SRS do you need to reduce the standard deviationof x to the value you found in part (a)?

You know from government data that heights of young men are approximately Normal with standard deviation about 2.8 inches. This means that \sigma = 2.8

The standard deviation of a sample of n young man is given by the following formula

s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

We want to have s = 0.167

0.167 = \frac{2.8}{\sqrt{n}}

0.167\sqrt{n} = 2.8

\sqrt{n} = \frac{2.8}{0.167}

\sqrt{n} = 16.77

\sqrt{n}^{2} = 16.77^{2}

n = 281.23

We need a sample of at least 282 young men.

Can someone help me with this, please? I will give brainliest. Ridiculous answers will get reported.
tatiyna

Answer:

The reasoning here is that the price should be based on the volume.

for a cylinder it's pi * r² * height

for a cone it's 1/3 * pi * r² * height

you'll notice that the formulas are the same, except that the cone is just one third of the cylinders volume.

so a fair price should be 70ct, ignoring packaging of course.

Can somebody help me out? I don’t get slope
Shalnov [3]

Answer: the slope of the line is 2/1

Step-by-step explanation:

Find a point on the graph and the go up twice until you see another point on the graph. So go to the right once. So you have found the slope of the line which is 2/1.

Hope this helps ☝️☝☝
