____________________________________________________

Answer:

Your answer to the question would be D). No mountains in the world are increasing in size.

____________________________________________________

The pieces of evidence that did NOT help in the development of the theory of plate tectonics is no mountains in the world are increasing in size.

____________________________________________________

Theory of plate tectonics:

A theory in which the earth has "plates" that move around, which could shift the land.

____________________________________________________

Explanation:

The reason why "D). No mountains in the world are increasing in size" would be the correct answer because this does not have anything to do with the theory of plate tectonics.

This is something that does not support the theory of plate tectonics. You don't see mountains growing over time; they just stay the same size for a long time. The statement "No mountains in the world are increasing in size" has nothing to do with plate tectonics. This also doesn't support the claim on how the plate tectonics can break lands and shift them into other parts of the world.

____________________________________________________

Why the other answer choices are incorrect:

The reason why answer choice "A) The outlines of the different continents look like they could fit together like puzzle pieces" is incorrect because:

This is a piece of evidence that actually supports the theory of plat tectonics. In the theory, scientist believed that the plates that are in the earth caused the lands to shift apart, which means that the different continents use to be connected all together. Since they say that they were connected together, the outlines that look like they could connect to other lands like a puzzle proves that the earth's lands use to be together one time. This is the reason why this answer choice would be eliminated.

The reason why answer choice "B) Similar fossil evidence has been found on continents separated by great distances" is incorrect because:

This is also another evidence that supports the theory of plate tectonics. This relates to the theory that all of the lands use to be connected together. Since they were connected together, species would be together in one land. But, since the plates shook and caused the lands to separate, some of the same species got separated, in which evidence shows that there were some of the same species that were separated thousands of miles away from each other. This is the reason why this answer choice would be eliminated.

The reason why answer choice "C) Most earthquakes and volcanoes occur along distinct lines around the world" is incorrect because:

This also is another evidence that supports the theory of plate tectonics. The word "distinct" means different. In this case, the earthquakes and volcanoes that are on the earth are in different parts of the worlds, meaning that they're scattered. They believed that the volcanoes use to be near each other, but because of the split in land, the volcanoes separated into different lands across the globe. This is the reason why this answer choice would be eliminated.

The statement that best explains the location of the asteroid belt is that Most asteroids can be found between Mars and Jupiter.

Where is the location of the asteroid belt?

The Main Belt can be seen around the location which is found in between Mars and Jupiter, and this can be calculate to be two to four times the Earth-sun distance.

It should be noted that it spans a region about 140 million miles across, hence The statement that best explains the location of the asteroid belt is that Most asteroids can be found between Mars and Jupiter.

Explain ONE political impact of irredentism, which is the creation of a new state out of the territory of existing states.
qwelly [4]
Irredentism is related to, but distinct from, secession. Irredentism is the process by which a part of an existing state breaks away and merges with another, whereas in secession merging does not take place. The importance of irredentism in international relations is based on the intersection between nationalism and the causes of war; because such a movement invariably means taking land from another state, irredentist claims have been known to provoke ethnic conflicts and territorial aggression. The continued discord between countries and states means that the potential for irredentist wars remains serious. The Admission to the Union Clause of the United States Constitution (often called the New States Clause) found at Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1, authorizes the U.S. Congress to admit new states into the Union (beyond the thirteen already in existence at the time the Constitution went into effect). The Constitution went into effect on June 21, 1788, after ratification by 9 of the 13 states, and the federal government began operations under it on March 4, 1789.[1] Since then, 37 states have been admitted into the Union. Each new state has been admitted on an equal footing with those already in existence.[2]

Of the 37 states admitted to the Union by Congress, all but six have been established within an existing U.S. organized incorporated territory. A state so created might encompass all or a portion of a territory. When the people of a territory or a region thereof have grown to a sufficient population and make their desire for statehood known to the federal government, in most cases Congress passed an enabling act authorizing the people of that territory or region to frame a proposed state constitution as a step toward admission to the Union. Although the use of an enabling act was a common historic practice, several states were admitted to the Union without one.

In many instances, an enabling act would detail the mechanism by which the territory would be admitted as a state following ratification of their constitution and election of state officers. Although the use of such an act is a traditional historic practice, several territories have drafted constitutions for submission to Congress absent an enabling act and were subsequently admitted. The broad outline for this process was established by the Land Ordinance of 1784 and the 1787 Northwest Ordinance, both of which predate the U.S. Constitution.
