The research conducted on Reddit, a news site shows that people's actions on social media can easily affect the way others react to such posts. A computer program was built by these researchers which randomly upvoted some posts, downvoted some, and left others that way.

It was noted that posts with higher upvotes had a higher chance of receiving more upvotes compared to those that recorded more downvotes. Posts with more downvotes had scores, 5% lower than the programs that were not even voted by the program.
