Rembrandt’s <em>smudges</em> and rugged brushwork  were called a <em>mess</em> due of his sudden strokes in paintings.

Rembrandt, just like <em>Da Vinci</em>, had mastered <em>Chiaroscuro</em>, a technique used to distribute light into their paintings, creating <em>illusions</em> that transcended the human visual system.
