How do cells obtain energy?

Biology

Answer:

Beginning with energy sources obtained from their environment in the form of sunlight and organic food molecules, eukaryotic cells make energy-rich molecules like ATP and NADH via energy pathways including photosynthesis, glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation.

Cells have an organelle known as 'mitochondria' which has ATP molecules in it. These ATP molecules generates energy for the cell to function properly.

Cells need a source of energy, they get this energy by breaking down food molecules to release, the stored chemical energy.

This process is called 'cellular respiration'.

The process is happens in all the cells in our body.

Oxygen is used to oxidize food, main oxidized food is sugar(glucose).

When materials containing iron are exposed to water and oxygen, __________ can occur?
Gwar [14]
Rust is another name for iron oxide, which occurs when iron or an alloy that contains iron, like steel, is exposed to oxygen and moisture for a long period of time. Over time, the oxygen combines with the metal at an atomic level, forming a new compound called an oxide and weakening the bonds of the metal itself.

Explain how scientists got the space station up in space. What problem did they
natta225 [31]

Answer:

scientists got the space station up in space in to small pieces.

Explanation:

The main problem which was faced by the scientist was that there was no powerful rocket which has the ability to lift the whole space station due to its more weight and carry it to the space against the powerful force of gravity. So for solving this problem, space station is taken into pieces into the space and then these pieces should be join to build the space station.

Which stage of cellular respiration produces the most atp?
ankoles [38]

Answer:

Electron transport Chain (Oxidative phosphorylation)

Explanation:

Cellular respiration can be defined as the process that involves the breakdown of glucose molecules into CO2 and H2O to generate energy inform of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP).  Also, cellular respiration usually takes place in the cells of an organism by converting biochemical energy present nutrients into Adenosine Triphosphate. Furthermore, it takes place in three stages which includes: glycolysis, TCA cycle and Electron transport (Oxidative phosphorylation). Thus, oxidative phosphorylation is the final stage of aerobic cellular respiration that produces maximum ATPs.

If a bacterial cell culture contains 2 cells at time zero, 8 cells one hour later, 32 cells after 2 hours, and 128 cells after 4
elena-s [515]

Answer:

B) g = 0.5 h, v = 2 h^-1

Explanation:

Generation time is the time taken for a bacterial cell to divide and produce an offspring. Bacterial cells divide exponentially.

The total number of cells is given as =2n x initial number

[n = number of generations]

So if the total is 8 cells:

8=2n x 2

2n=4

n=2

That means 2 generations have arose

Generation time is given as \frac{t}{n}

where t=the time taken

if t=1hour and n=2

Generation time = \frac{1}{2} = 0.5hour

Generation time, g =0.5h, and the rate of generation (growth rate), v is 2 per hour
