"The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louise Stevenson tells the story of Dr. Jekyll and his other personality Mr. Hyde. The doctor is famous and loved by the people while the other personality Mr. Hyde is a monster capable of killing people.

In the first chapter, Mr. Enfield recounts how one early winter morning, he saw the unfortunate trampling of a little girl in the streets. He had seen two figures, one of Mr. Hyde and the other that of the little girl running hurriedly to get a doctor for her sick family member. He remarks that the man who seems more like a Juggernaut than a human being, appear calm and gave him a cold look. This episode was told to Mr. Utterson when they had come too the strange door of Dr. Jekyll's house.

He just wishes that he could still have that love that is lost.  The snow is a symbol for pain and suffering and his heart is aching.  It is not just about nature and walking through it, but trying to follow that old path that he cannot follow any longer.
